The Towns in Spain keep on suprising me. They have many beautiful Old Towns with lots of history and impressive Churches and Cathedrals.
Coming away from the Mountains, the landscape changed dramatically. This area is very barren and almost desert like. The Towns are much further apart and there is not much inbetween. The wind had picked up and was blowing me all over the road. I had to lean into the wind to stay in a straight line!

On the outskirts of a village, i noticed a lot of vans and trucks passing by. I'd had enough of the wind, and the cycling was quite monotonous. I thought i'd have a go at hitchbiking :-) I was only waiting 5 minutes when this friendly chap pulled up in a VW Golf. He barely spoke any English, but he was more than happy to give me a ride. He was only driving about 45kms, but i was glad to be out of the cold and wind!
From the road, i could see this bridge. It was a disused railway line and a perfect camping spot in the small canyon behind it
It was starting to get pretty cold, and i don't particularly enjoy camping when it's very cold. So i decided i would get a bus further South, towards the coast and some sun :-)
I got the bus from Teruel to the City of Murcia. It was about a 6 hour journey, and when i woke up, the temperature was much better! It was 20 degrees in the night :-)
Not far from the City, i came upon this off road bike trail. Nothing like a good bit of off roading!

I wasn't really sure where it went, but hey, lets follow it anyway.
From a distance, i saw this distinct looking hill with some sort of ruins on the top. I was very curious to go and take a look.
I was determined to sleep the night on this hill. The track leading up the hill was near enough impossible with my heavy laden bike, so i left it down the bottom and went on foot with my rucksack and camping gear.
I knew it would be windy up there, and i was hoping to find some shelter behind the ruins.
There was several underground chambers, which i imagine was once used for storing food and supplies. It was very cosy inside and i made it my home for the night. Most importantly there was no wind, and I slept like a log!
