This is Jons. I stayed with Jons and Martina when i cycled here in the spring of this year. It was really great to visit again and catch up. Jons and Martina cycled in South America for almost two years! I loved to hear their stories from the road and what they got up to. Really good inspiration! Jons works on an organic farm, and i asked if he could show me around as it sounded interesting. He said sure, and i could camp in the vineyard overlooking the Monastery that sits on an island along the river Rhine. Not a bad place to spent the night :-)
I met Martin and Yolanda when i was cycling in Turkey last year. We met in Cappadocia in Central Turkey. At this point i had seen no tourists or spoke to anyone in fluent English for over a week. It was great to have a conversation again! They are from Zurich and they invited me to stay with them if i was to pass through on my way home to England. So i stayed with them when i eventually reached Zurich. They are a great couple and so easy to get along with. They make me feel so at home! So i stopped by again this time around. We spent a couple of nights together and then i left my bike there and hitchhiked over to Austria where i worked in the winter.
I met Susi whilst i working in a restaurant over the last winter in a village called Brand. Susi is Welsh but has lived in Austria for the past 12 years or so. Her family from Wales were here over the winter and we got on very well. When i told her of my trip, she said i would be welcome to stay over for a while. It was really great to see Susi and spent time with her and her boyfriend.
A hike up to the summit of Schesaplana at 2964m.
It's the first time i've been hiking in the Alps, and i found it unbelievably beautiful!
So now i have collected my bike and i cycled to a small town called Hochdorf. I was hitchhiking around here in the spring and an American woman called Ellen picked me up. We had a good conversation and she offered me to stay at her families home if i couldn't find a place to stay that night. I couldn't believe it. Very hospitable! So i stayed with Ellen, her husband Andrew, and their two sons, Alex and Chris. I had a fantastic night with the family. So this time around, i have visited again. I had another good night with some delicious food cooked by Ellen. Thank you so much for everything! I wish you all the best. It has been really great to catch up with people who i met on previous travels. I find it is not so much where you travel, but the people you meet along the way :-)
